Dockworkers' Union
Evrart Claire's striking union of Martinaise dockworkers.
The Dockworkers' Union in Disco Elysium represents the dockworkers of Terminal B at the Greater Revachol Industrial Harbour in Martinaise and is led by Evrart Claire. Founded in '31 in spite of obstruction from the Coalition, it won overtime pay and a medical plan from the Wild Pines Group in its first two strikes. Its third strike, started in December '50, demands seats on the board of the harbour's main operator and forms the backdrop to the murder case.
Background
Wild Pines sent its negotiator Joyce Messier and a squad of mercenaries to break the strike, and the hanged man turns out to be their commander, Ellis "Lely" Kortenaer. The Hardie Boys, the union's armed vigilantes, keep the peace in the district in place of the police.
