Colossus is a Russian mutant superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Len Wein and artist Dave Cockrum, he first appeared in Giant-Size X-Men #1 (May 1975). A member of the X-Men, he can transform his body into organic steel, granting him superhuman strength and durability, making him the physically strongest member of the team. He is portrayed as quiet, honest, and virtuous, and is a talented artist who reluctantly uses his powers in combat out of a sense of responsibility.

Lore & Background
Piotr 'Peter' Rasputin was born on a Soviet collective farm near Lake Baikal in Siberia, living with his parents and sister Illyana. His superhuman powers manifested during adolescence when he saved his sister from a runaway tractor. He was recruited by Professor Charles Xavier to join the second generation of X-Men, formed to rescue the original team from the living island Krakoa. After the battle, he remained in the United States with the new X-Men, taking the codename Colossus.
Colossus is typically peaceful and selfless, often putting himself in danger to protect others. He began a significant relationship with fellow X-Man Kitty Pryde, which later ended after he became infatuated with the alien healer Zsaji during the Secret Wars. He has been involved in major events such as the Mutant Massacre, where he killed Riptide in a rage after Kitty was injured, and the Fall of the Mutants, where he gave his life alongside the X-Men to stop the Adversary, though he was later revived.
