Fictional character biography

Sandi Brandenberg enters the record in the Taskmaster limited series. Her past is mostly a blank, though she has a soft spot for stray animals and once worked as a dancer, with the implication that this was an exotic dancer. She encountered the villain trainer and mercenary Taskmaster while he was using the alias Tony Masters in Las Vegas, and he employed his copied skills to charm and seduce her. While on a date at his New York City apartment, a Triad gang member shot Sandi as retaliation for Taskmaster manipulating the Triads into a gang war.

Taskmaster survived the attack but took her injury to heart, later securing her medical treatment and helping her find a job after she recovered. This brought her into the final story arc of Deadpool, written by Gail Simone. After Deadpool falsely gained fame in the mercenary world for killing four yakuza bosses, he brought Sandi on as a secretary and receptionist to manage his growing business. It is suggested, though not confirmed, that Taskmaster recommended her for the role.

Their relationship stalled after she learned his true identity and he was shot, but Taskmaster still quietly cared for her. He once offered free help to a struggling Deadpool, claiming it was only because if Deadpool died, Sandi would lose her job. Deadpool considered Sandi a friend, admitted his business would collapse without her, and gave her a large bonus after a big payment came in. She also created new costumes for him.

Deadpool was fiercely protective of her and became upset when she arrived at work with a black eye from her then-boyfriend. After another fight sent her to the hospital, Sandi allowed Deadpool to intervene and run the boyfriend out of town, but insisted he not kill him. Deadpool kept his word, beating the man severely but stopping short of murder, explaining he did so because he had made a promise. Taskmaster, who had been watching nearby and still harbored strong feelings for Sandi, killed the boyfriend immediately after Deadpool left, remarking sarcastically that he had never promised her anything.
