Fictional character biography
Jack Hammer was a student at Empire State University, where he was a classmate of Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy. He competed with Parker for a job under Norman Osborn and had a crush on Stacy. After being teleported to the past during a fight with the Great Lakes Avengers, Deadpool encountered Hammer, whose future he knew. Disguised as Peter Parker, Deadpool gave Osborn false information about Hammer being a drug user, ruining his employment opportunity.
Hammer was then manipulated into fixing Deadpool's teleportation belt, and after Deadpool returned to the future, a depressed and drunken Hammer turned to crime. Assuming the alias Weasel, he became a data and weapon broker, sometimes partaking in mercenary activities. He formed an uneasy friendship with Deadpool. Taskmaster abducted Weasel to procure his services, but Weasel chose to return to Deadpool after Deadpool showed compassion and promised a new cable connection to the Playboy Channel.
After repeated visits to Deadpool's friend/prisoner Blind Al, Deadpool placed Weasel and Blind Al in the Box, a dark room with sharp objects and torture instruments. Weasel escaped and left Deadpool. Later, after Deadpool was killed, resurrected, and left with amnesia, Weasel helped restore his memory before leaving again. Their association continued on and off.
Weasel later returned as the Las Vegas hero "The House," funded by local casinos. Using his knowledge of Deadpool, he trapped and defeated him, locking him in his own version of the Box. Deadpool escaped and offered Weasel a chance to double his earnings, then took Weasel's extra suit of armor and the alias "Wildcard," acting as House's sidekick.
In other media
T.J. Miller plays Weasel in the Deadpool films. He runs Sister Margaret's School for Wayward Children as its bartender and owner, and his bond with Wade Wilson is a two-way street. It is Weasel who gives Wilson his famous alias after placing a bet against him in the "dead pool." In the sequel, he helps Wilson recruit X-Force but is forced to betray them by Cable. The character also appears as a non-playable figure in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, with Cam Clarke providing his voice.
