Batman Family
Batman's circle of allies, and the 1970s comic named after them.
"Batman Family" (or "Bat-Family") is the informal name for Batman's closest allies, mostly masked vigilantes working in Gotham City. It is also the title of a DC Comics anthology that ran for 20 issues from 1975 to 1978, built around Batman's supporting cast: it starred Batgirl and Robin and also featured Alfred Pennyworth, Vicki Vale, the Elongated Man, the Huntress and Ace the Bat-Hound. Writer Bob Rozakis introduced Duela Dent in issue #6 and brought back the original Batwoman in issue #10. After the DC Implosion of 1978 the series was merged into Detective Comics, which ran as a 68-page giant until issue #496 in 1980. An eight-issue miniseries, Batman: Family, followed from December 2002 to February 2003.
