Doomsday
The engineered Kryptonian monster that killed Superman.
Doomsday is a supervillain created by Dan Jurgens for DC Comics. He made a cameo in Superman: The Man of Steel #17 (November 1992) and his first full appearance in the next issue, and he is best known as the creature that killed Superman in the 1992 storyline "The Death of Superman". His origin places him on prehistoric Krypton, where the alien scientist Bertron let an infant die again and again in the planet's hostile environment and cloned a stronger version from the remains each time. The process taught him to return to life adapted to whatever had killed him, and the memory of those deaths left him with a hatred of all life. Superman writers conceived him in 1991 as a foe whose raw physical power could match Superman's, and IGN ranked him #46 among the Top 100 Comic Book Villains of All Time.
