Martian Manhunter

A stranded Martian who became a founding pillar of the Justice League.

The Martian Manhunter is J'onn J'onzz, a green-skinned Martian created by writer Joseph Samachson and artist Joe Certa, who first appeared in Detective Comics #225 (November 1955). In his first story, Dr. Saul Erdel's experimental teleportation beam pulls him to Earth; the shock of seeing him change shape kills Erdel and strands him, so he fights crime as the detective John Jones while he waits for a way home. One of the last of his species, he is one of the seven founding members of the Justice League and is known for his wisdom, gentleness and idealism. In live action he has been played by David Ogden Stiers, Phil Morris, David Harewood and Harry Lennix.
