Wonder Woman
Themyscira's Amazon princess, armed with the Lasso of Truth.
Wonder Woman is Princess Diana of Themyscira, an Amazon warrior who uses the civilian name Diana Prince outside her island home. William Moulton Marston and artist Harry G. Peter created her in 1941; she first appeared in All Star Comics #8 (published October 21, 1941) and headlined Sensation Comics #1 in January 1942. In her original origin, her mother, Queen Hippolyta, sculpts her from clay and the Greek goddesses grant her powers; after Flashpoint (2011) she was rewritten as the daughter of Zeus, and the clay origin later returned to the main continuity. Her magical gear includes the Lasso of Truth, a pair of indestructible bracelets and a tiara she can throw. Created during World War II, she first fought Axis forces, and her stories later turned toward the gods and monsters of Greek mythology.
