Robin
Batman's partners, from Dick Grayson to Damian Wayne.
Robin is the name carried by a line of young heroes who fight crime at Batman's side, created by Bob Kane, Bill Finger and Jerry Robinson as a junior partner for the Dark Knight. The first Robin, Dick Grayson, debuted in Detective Comics #38 (April 1940); the character doubled the sales of the Batman titles, and the pair became known as the Dynamic Duo. Grayson later gave up the role and became Nightwing. Jason Todd followed in 1983 and was killed by the Joker in "A Death in the Family" (1988) before returning as the Red Hood. Tim Drake took over in the 1991 Robin miniseries, Stephanie Brown held the mantle briefly in 2004, and Batman's son Damian Wayne became Robin in "Battle for the Cowl" (2009); as of 2025, Tim and Damian share the title. The name and the first costume were inspired by Robin Hood.
