Background
It was the Fentons' second try at a portal, after a proto-portal. When they first plugged it in nothing happened, because the on/off switch had been fitted inside the portal; Danny went in to look around, switched it on by accident, and the accident made him half-ghost. It opens from both sides, so ghosts can come through into Amity Park. Jack added a fingerprint scanner that only let Fentons open it, which was later swapped for a manual lock. Danny destroyed it in "Phantom Planet".
