History
The Goldmind, Inc. entered the music industry in 1997 with the release of Missy Elliott's debut album Supa Dupa Fly, produced by Timbaland. In 1998, Nicole released her debut album Make It Hot, supported by the Timbaland-produced title track and two minor hits. That same year, Elliott served as executive producer, alongside Timbaland, Sylvia Rhone, and Merlin Bobb, for the soundtrack to the film Why Do Fools Fall In Love. The soundtrack included contributions from Gina Thompson, Destiny's Child, Coko, Busta Rhymes, En Vogue, Lil' Mo, Mel B, Mint Condition, Nicole, and the newly signed Mocha, producing four minor hits. In 1999, after signing Gina Thompson, Danja Mowf, and Torrey Carter, Elliott released her second album Da Real World, originally intended to be titled "She's A Bitch". The album produced three hit singles: "She's A Bitch", the number-one hit "Hot Boyz", and "All N My Grill" featuring Nicole. Gina Thompson, previously signed to Mercury Records under Darkchild productions, released a hit single featuring Elliott titled "Ya Di Ya" from her unreleased second album If You Only Knew.
