Plantashun Boyz

Faze was a member of the trio Plantashun Boyz alongside BlackFace Naija and 2face Idibia. The group released two studio albums: Body and Soul in 2000 and Sold Out in 2003. A widely reported rivalry between Faze and 2face Idibia contributed to the group's break-up in 2004. The group briefly reunited in 2007 to release Plan B, managed by Plantashun Entertainment, a company formed by 2face's former manager Nathaniel Akinwale Owoyemi and Faze's brother and manager Ifeanyi Oji.

Solo career

After the Plantashun Boyz breakup in 2004, Faze signed with Westside Music Label in Lagos to make his first solo album. Released in late 2004, Faze Alone went platinum in Nigeria. Its title track hit number one on stations like Rhythm FM, Cool FM, and Ray Power FM, while "Angel Gabriella," "Miss U," and "Na True" also did well. The album showed off Faze's high-pitched vocals, then unmatched by any other Nigerian male artist. In 2006, Faze put out his second album, Independent, on his own label, Independent Entertainment. Hits included "Kpo Kpo Di Kpo," "Letter to My Brother," "Tattoo Girls," "Need Somebody," and "Kolomental," which became a club anthem across Nigeria. That same year, he won Best Vocalist at the Hip-Hop World Awards. Around then, he recorded "Proud to Be African" with Wyclef Jean and played alongside international stars like Beenie Man, Usher, and Beyoncé at events such as the This Day Music Festival and Star Trek concerts. His third album, Originality, came out in 2008. The title track charted widely, and "Am in Love" and "Spend My Money" got heavy airplay. Faze then took a creative break, later saying he wanted to study the current sound so he could fit in without losing himself.
