Career

His second album, Resurrection, was scheduled for 1994 but faced problems with Atlantic Records and marketing issues involving fellow Chicago rapper Common's album of the same name, resulting in a release limited to Chicago. In 1996, Twista collaborated with Chicago producer the Legendary Traxster and Creator's Way / CWAL artists Do or Die on the track "Po Pimp", which became a hit. This led to a CWAL label deal with Atlantic Records, which released Twista's album Adrenaline Rush in 1997, by which time he had dropped "Tung" from his stage name. Adrenaline Rush peaked at number 77 on the Billboard 200 and included the Billboard Hot 100 hit "Get It Wet", produced by the Legendary Traxster. In 1998, Twista formed Speedknot Mobstaz with other Chicago rappers, releasing their debut album Mobstability, produced entirely by the Legendary Traxster. He then joined the label Legit Ballin', which released compilation albums Legit Ballin' in 1999, Legit Ballin' Vol. 2: Street Scriptures in 2001, Respect the Game, Vol. 3 in 2002, and Volume 4: Tha Truth in 2006. In 2000, Twista collaborated with Ruff Ryders and Drag-On on Ryde or Die Vol. 2 and with Memphis Bleek on "Is That Your Chick (The Lost Verses)". Beginning in 2002, he recorded the album Kamikaze with Kanye West and Ludacris. Released in 2004, Kamikaze debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, driven by the number-one single "Slow Jamz" featuring West and Jamie Foxx. Other singles included "Overnight Celebrity" and "So Sexy" with R. Kelly, and the album sold around two million copies. A remix of Elephant Man's "Jook Gal" featured Twista and the YoungBloodZ.
