Conker's Bad Fur Day (2008)
A drunken squirrel's journey home through a land of absurdity and danger.
Conker's Bad Fur Day is a 2001 platform game developed by Rare for the Nintendo 64. It is the second installment in the Conker series, after Conker's Pocket Tales (1999). The game follows Conker, a greedy, hard-drinking red squirrel who must return home to his girlfriend, Berri, after an evening of heavily drinking at the local pub. Most of the game requires the player to complete a linear sequence of challenges that involve jumping over obstacles, solving puzzles, and fighting enemies. A multiplayer mode in which up to four players can compete against each other in seven different game types is also included.

Lore & Background
The game is set in the Fairy Panther King's Kingdom. The morning after a night of binge drinking, a drunken Conker loses his way and awakens to find himself lost with a terrible hangover. The Panther King, ruler of the land, orders his servant Professor Von Kriplespac to find a red squirrel to use as a fourth leg for his throne. During his quest to return home to his girlfriend Berri, Conker becomes sidetracked by cash rewards and becomes embroiled in absurd situations. Eventually, Conker finds Berri, but she is shot by Don Weaso on the Panther King's orders and dies in Conker's arms. The Panther King is killed when a Xenomorph-like creature bursts from his chest. Von Kriplespac reveals the creature is his creation and that they are inside a spaceship; he instructs the creature to kill Conker, but Conker opens an airlock, expelling Kriplespac and the corpses into space, and then battles the creature.
In Their Own Story
The bar is empty except for the one. Conker slumps on a stool, a half-finished can of fizzy drink sweating on the sticky wood. Outside, the jungle hums with the kind of green, dripping life that makes his paws itch. He tips the last of the drink back, burps, and stares at the empty space beside him where Cheeks used to sit.
Then the shadow comes. Not a shadow, exactly—a *presence*, pooling in the corner like spilled ink with teeth. The Gloom. It doesn't speak. It doesn't need to. It simply *takes*, and the stool beside Conker is empty, and the air smells like burnt sugar and old rain.
Conker sets the can down. Picks it up. Sets it down again. Then he stands, cracks his neck, and walks out into the jungle with a grin that's equal parts rage and bad decision. "Right then," he mutters. "Let's have a go."
Reader's Guide
The player controls Conker through three-dimensional levels. The game features an overworld where players transition between levels, though many are blocked until Conker earns cash. Gameplay involves completing a linear sequence of challenges, including defeating bosses, solving puzzles, gathering objects, and racing opponents. Conker can run, jump, smack enemies with a frying pan, swim underwater, climb ladders or ropes, and push objects. He regains health by eating anti-gravity chocolate. Context-sensitive pads grant temporary abilities when pressing the B button. The multiplayer mode includes seven game types: Beach, Raptor, Heist, War, Tank, Race, and Deathmatch.
