Making and release
The first series consisted of six episodes airing from 24 May to 28 June 2011, followed by a reunion show hosted by Russell Kane.[2] Series 3, also known as Chaos in Cancun, began airing on 26 June 2012 and was the last to include Rebecca Walker and Jay Gardner.[3][4] Series 5 followed the cast across Europe including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Prague and Tignes, beginning 19 February 2013.[5] The sixth series was filmed in Sydney, Australia, and aired from 9 July 2013.[6]
Series 7 saw filming suspended when Holly Hagan and Vicky Pattison were arrested for assault, and Sophie was axed from the show.[7] When the fourth series premiered on 6 November 2012, it marked the debut of new participants Daniel Thomas-Tuck and Scott Timlin.[8]
What the cited sources add
A 2011 Digital Spy article reported that the Geordie Shore cast would work in a souvenir shop during their Magaluf summer specials.[9] The same article noted that the show launched with record-breaking ratings for MTV and was criticised by a local MP for "bordering on porn"[9] A Chronicle Live article from 2011 stated that a graduate filmmaker made a documentary titled 'Dan Senior: Life After Geordie Shore' about Holly Hagan's ex-boyfriend.[10]
