Premise

The British version of King of the Nerds borrows its basic structure from the American show. A group of contestants live together in a house they call Nerdvana. They start out in teams, then move to individual play. Each episode features a main challenge known as the Nerd War. The winner or winners of this challenge earn immunity from being sent home. After the Nerd War, two players from the losing side are chosen to face off in a one-on-one elimination round called the Nerd-Off. One of these players is picked by a vote among the Nerd War losers, and the other is selected by the Nerd War winner. The UK version differs from the US one in that every Nerd-Off uses the same quiz bowl-style format. This elimination round has two parts. First comes the wild-card round, where both nerds answer questions about a mystery topic at the same time. Then comes the Quick Fire round, where the contestants take turns. Each player gets 90 seconds to answer as many questions as they can on a subject chosen by their opponent. The contestant with the lower total score after both rounds is eliminated. If the scores are tied, a single killer question decides the loser. One contestant is eliminated per episode until the finale. The last person standing is crowned King of the Nerds, receives the Throne of Games (a nod to Game of Thrones), and takes home the £15,000 prize.

Contestant progress

Curtis left Team Defenders of Time and joined Team E.V.I.L. The team structure was eliminated, making Nerd Wars individual contests. Anyone who lost the final Nerd War was automatically sent home. The key explains the results: (WINNER) means the contestant became "King of the Nerds"; (RUNNER-UP) means second place; (WIN) means the contestant won a Nerd War and gained immunity; (IN) means the contestant lost a Nerd War but was not chosen for the Nerd-Off; (RISK) means the contestant won the Nerd-Off and avoided elimination; (OUT) means the contestant lost the Nerd-Off and was eliminated. Teams were either Team Defenders of Time or Team E.V.I.L., which stands for Extremely Valiant Independence League.
