Format
A panel of celebrities bet on whether members of the public could complete unlikely challenges and stunts within a time limit. The studio audience also placed bets. Panellists earned points based on the percentage of the audience that bet correctly. The celebrity sponsoring a challenge always had to bet their challenger would succeed. Accumulated points were converted into pounds and donated to the highest-scoring celebrity's chosen charity.
Timeline
Each week featured four challenges, some in the studio and some on location presented by Ellis Ward. Each panellist and Bruce Forsyth sponsored a challenge; if the challenge failed, the sponsor performed a forfeit. The show dropped the talk show aspects of Wetten, dass..?, reducing the running time from 2–3 hours to 1 hour. The original theme tune was composed by Alan Lisk. The show closed with Forsyth rapping and the audience shouting back lines. A new theme by Jonathan Sorrell was introduced in series two. Celebrity guests could no longer specify their forfeit; they chose from pre-defined forfeits hidden under cryptic statements. Kelly also worked on location challenges. If Kelly's challenge failed, he did his forfeit regardless of audience prediction. Series five moved from Saturday to Friday nights and introduced a reworked theme tune.
Episodes
Coloured backgrounds indicate show results: green for successful challenge and avoided forfeit (series 1–7), red for failed challenge and forfeit (series 1–7). Bold text marks the celebrity with the most points; italic text marks the fewest points (series 8–10, 2024 revival). Audience member Susan Elvy played the part of Meryl Streep throughout the show. One series was broadcast as You Bet! on Tour and presented solely by Stephen Mulhern.
