Production

In 2019, Apple TV+ began developing an English adaptation of the Israeli thriller False Flag, originally created by Maria Feldman and Amit Cohen, with Keshet International involved. The following year, Apple ordered an eight-episode series from Keshet UK, directed by Chris Long and showrun by Rob Williams. Executive producers included Howard Burch, Avi Nir, Anna Winger, Feldman, Cohen, and Liat Benasuly. Uma Thurman led the cast, joined by Kunal Nayyar, Noah Emmerich, Georgina Campbell, Elyes Gabel, Elizabeth Henstridge, and Angel Coulby. Tom Rhys Harries was added to the cast in late 2020. Production started in the UK in March 2020 but halted due to the pandemic. Filming resumed in November 2020 in Brixham, and additional scenes were shot in New York City in May 2021 at locations such as Central Park, Washington Square Park, and the Upper East Side. The first season wrapped on May 18, 2021. The series debuted on Apple TV+ on February 4, 2022, with two episodes; the remaining six aired weekly. Apple TV+ cancelled the show in July 2023. In 2025, the series became available on ITVX in the UK.
