Lore & Background

The Tyrell Corporation manufactured Nexus-6 replicants for dangerous off-world labor, equipping them with a built-in four-year lifespan as a fail-safe to prevent emotional instability and rebellion. Dr. Eldon Tyrell, the founder, resided in opulent seclusion in his Los Angeles headquarters, far above the rain-swept streets. The corporation's philosophy is reflected in Tyrell's belief that implanting replicants with memories would create a cushion for emotional development, making them more controllable. This is demonstrated by Rachael, a Nexus-7 replicant implanted with the memories of Tyrell's niece, leading her to believe she is human.
