Arrival of Roy Batty's Squad
Four angels of death descend upon a rain-soaked city to beg for more time.
The arrival of Roy Batty’s unit ignites the narrative, introducing a desperate group of advanced Nexus-6 replicants who have fled the off-world colonies to return to Earth. Led by the charismatic and formidable Roy Batty, this group—Batty, Pris, Zhora, and Leon Kowalski—are genetically engineered for combat and labor but cursed with lifespans limited to merely four years. Reader's Guide
Six replicants escape the off-world colonies, killing 23 people and taking a shuttle to Earth; two of them die trying to enter the Tyrell Corporation. Rick Deckard is reluctantly recalled from retirement to identify and retire the four replicants: Leon Kowalski, Zhora Salome, Pris Stratton, and finally Roy Batty. Leon attempts to pass as a human worker but is exposed during a Voight-Kampff test. Zhora works as an exotic dancer at Taffey Lewis's bar until Deckard finds her and kills her after a chase through the streets.
Pris, who has moved in with J.F. Sebastian, ambushes Deckard in Sebastian's apartment and is killed there. The climax occurs when Roy Batty locates Dr. Tyrell at his pyramid headquarters. After a failed attempt to negotiate an extension of his lifespan, Batty kills Tyrell and flees back into the city to confront Deckard. This leads to a final, brutal confrontation on the rooftop of a building during a torrential downpour. The arc concludes with Roy Batty's death after sparing Deckard, marking the end of the replicant threat.
