Background
The game is set in a dystopian Los Angeles after the Blackout, between the 1982 film and Blade Runner 2049, and roughly a year after the events of the 2021 anime Blade Runner: Black Lotus. It shares themes with the films and draws on details from the original film's production and from the source novel.
In June 2022 Annapurna Interactive tapped Solar Ash director Chelsea Hash for an unannounced in-house project begun in 2020 with a small team including technical director Brett Lajzer, senior producer Evan Hembacher, art director Cosimo Galluzzi and environment artist Nate Grove; the June 2023 Annapurna Interactive Showcase revealed it as a Blade Runner narrative game. Its status was put into question in September 2024 when the internal development team resigned amid mass resignations at Annapurna following a power struggle, although the publisher said it planned to continue development. On December 10, 2025, the game was delisted from Steam, and by December 17 it no longer had a page on Annapurna's website, leading to speculation that it was cancelled.
