Tyrell Corporation

The architect of artificial life who dared to play god in a dying world.

The Tyrell Corporation is the manufacturer of replicants, the bio-engineered androids central to the Blade Runner franchise. Headquartered in a towering pyramid structure in Los Angeles, the company was founded and led by Dr. Eldon Tyrell, a genius who pushed the boundaries of genetic engineering. The corporation's primary product was the Nexus series of replicants, designed for labor and combat on off-world colonies. Tyrell's experiments included implanting memories to give his creations emotional stability. Its end came after the Nexus-8 revolts and the Blackout of 2022: replicant production was banned, the company went bankrupt and Niander Wallace bought it.

Lore & Background

The Tyrell Corporation's headquarters was a massive pyramid structure that dominated the Los Angeles skyline, illuminated by perpetual neon and surrounded by rain. Tyrell himself lives in a penthouse at the top. The company collapsed after several revolts by its Nexus-8 replicants, and the Blackout of 2022 destroyed its archives.

Reader's Guide

In the shadowed sprawl of Los Angeles, the Tyrell Corporation stood as the undisputed architect of artificial life, monopolizing the production of replicants for off-world colonization and Earth's most hazardous toil. Its Nexus-6 units were built with a four-year lifespan to avoid emotional development, and every attempt to extend a replicant's life has ended in death. Three years after the first film the corporation had moved on to the Nexus-8, a line without that limit.
