Iggy Cygnus is a male Nexus-8 replicant and one of five who got away from the off-world colony of Calantha. No other replicant shares his stated mental level of S. His philosophy centers around the act of living despite his much longer lifespan than his predecessors, and he does not believe replicants have an afterlife.

Background

Iggy's story starts with a battle on Calantha before Blade Runner Black Out 2022. A fallen ally's right eye showed the serial number "NX-82/9.6", revealing a replicant, and from that Iggy understood that there were nothing but replicants on either side of the fight.

In Los Angeles he rescues Trixie, a female Nexus-8, from human thugs and brings her in on a plan: steal a gasoline truck and drive it to Tyrell Corporation headquarters. A human technician, Ren, is recruited to redirect a test nuclear missile armed with an electromagnetic pulse over the city, knocking out its power. Just before it goes off, Iggy drives the truck into the Tyrell archives and destroys every magnetic backup, wiping whatever electronic data remained; the corporation is finished, and replicant production stays prohibited until the Wallace Corporation wins approval more than ten years on. Having escaped the blackout, he cuts out his own right eye, the one thing that could give him away as a replicant.
