Kohr came through Bayer Leverkusen's youth system. He made his Bundesliga debut on 21 April 2012 in a 1–0 win over 1899 Hoffenheim. He later played for FC Augsburg, returned to Leverkusen, joined Eintracht Frankfurt, and then moved to Mainz 05 on loan before signing permanently.
