Nekropsi began as "Necropsy" in 1989 in Istanbul, Turkey. Their early work included the 1992 demo *Speed Lessons Part I*, a four-track thrash metal release. The group's sound underwent a significant transformation with their debut full-length album *Mi Kubbesi* (1996, Ada Müzik), which blended progressive rock, thrash metal, electronica, and noise, making their music difficult to categorize. After a ten-year hiatus, they released *Sayı 2: 10 Yılda Bir Çıkar* in 2007 via A.K. Müzik. *Mi Kubbesi* was re-released as *1998* by Peyote Müzik in 2010.
