Production and release

Blue Reflection Ray, a spin-off anime television series based on the Blue Reflection video game, was produced by J.C.Staff and announced on February 12, 2021. Risako Yoshida directed the series, with Akiko Waba handling scriptwriting and oversight. Koichi Kikuta adapted Mel Kishida’s original character designs for animation, and Daisuke Shinoda composed the music. The show aired from April 10 to September 25, 2021, on the Animeism block across MBS, TBS, and BS-TBS. EXiNA provided the first opening theme, “DiViNE,” while ACCAMER performed the first ending theme, “Saishin.” Eir Aoi sang the second opening, “Atokku,” and ACCAMER returned for the second ending, “fluoresce.” Funimation initially streamed the series outside Asia, and Mighty Media secured licensing for Southeast Asian territories. The series ran for two consecutive cours. A planned Blu-ray release was canceled on June 15, 2021, citing “various reasons.” On May 26, 2022, Crunchyroll announced it would begin streaming the series on June 7, alongside an English dub.
