Synopsis
In a future where Mixed Reality technology has transformed daily life, a new sport called Circlet Bout emerges. Yuka Sasaki accidentally faces top player Chikage Fujimura in a match and, despite her inexperience, earns Chikage's respect. Inspired, Yuka transfers to a Tokyo school two years later to pursue Circlet Bout, only to find the club disbanded. She resolves to reopen it with new friends.
Characters
Yūka Sasaki is the protagonist who, after her match with Chikage, decides to become a Circlet Bout player. Her weapon is a sword, and she later discovers she can exploit the Overheat Phenomenon for simultaneous attack and defense. She often adds umeboshi to her food. Miyuki Kasahara is an athletic girl who becomes interested in Yūka after seeing her fight video. She had already been trying to revive the Union school's Circlet Bout club before Yūka arrived. Her weapon is a double-bladed shuriken. She quit track and field after being falsely accused of cheating, and her family owns a chain of shoe stores. Reina Kuroda is the student council president and younger sister of famous player Ayana Kuroda. She initially opposes the club's revival but accepts after a challenge from another school. Ayumu Aizawa is a computer expert who serves as the club's manager. She wears an oversized white coat that belonged to her father, a developer of Circlet Bout technology. She became involved after her father's disappearance, analyzing opponents and devising strategies. If she competes, she uses a riot shield with installed weapons but lacks training to dodge attacks. In 2018, DMM Games launched a browser-based role-playing game with a story by Nachi Kio and music by Elements Garden. An anime adaptation followed, announced on August 9, 2018. Directed by Hideki Tachibana and written by Kio, it was animated by Silver Link. Kazuyuki Yamayoshi adapted the character designs from saitom's originals, with music by Yōichi Sakai and produced by Lantis. The 12-episode series aired on Tokyo MX and AT-X from January 8 to March 26, 2019.
