Characters
Mike, voiced by Nika Futterman, is an 11-year-old girl from Manhattan who enjoys island life but misses New York; Og often recreates things she misses, such as a television. Lu Bellissimo Albonquetine, voiced by Nancy Cartwright, is a 10-year-old self-proclaimed princess, Og's cousin, and niece of Alfred and Margery; she is loud and arrogant, exploits others and her pet turtle Lancelot, and usually learns humility by episode's end. Lancelot is Lu's long-suffering land turtle, dressed in gaudy outfits and forced to perform stunts; he often runs away but tends to save the islanders, and unlike the Philosophical Society animals, he does not speak except for a squeaky scream or a laugh, and once shouted "BOO".
Og Albonquetine, voiced by Dee Bradley Baker, is a 7-year-old raspy-voiced cousin of Lu and nephew of Wendell; he has a predisposition to scientific theory and invention, and his inventions-gone-awry drive many plots, such as making a video game during a flood, performing nude in a fashion show, and creating jujubombs.
Production
The series premiered as a seven-minute short on Cartoon Network's World Premiere Toons on November 6, 1998. The series was produced simultaneously at Pilot Studio in Moscow and Kinofilm in Los Angeles, and previews were shown in American theaters before Pokémon: The First Movie. A video game deal for the Game Boy Advance was announced in May 2002 but never released.
