Plot
The show is set on or around the fictional Coral Island. It follows the Suntots, a group of island-dwelling people, and the Smoggies, a trio of polluting treasure hunters. The Smoggies live on a coal-fired steam ship, the SS Stinky Poo, and constantly try to destroy the Suntots' home. The Suntots defend their paradise by outsmarting the Smoggies' schemes, highlighting the importance of protecting the environment.
Main characters
Princess Lila is taller than other Suntots with more human-like dimensions and red hair. She is regarded as a leader and tries to convince Emma that the magic coral does not exist. Speed has bright blue hair and is daring and fast-swimming, often thinking of solutions alongside Princess Lila. Chip is the orange-haired engineer who invents using environmentally friendly methods and serves as a sidekick.
Uncle Boom is the oldest Suntot with white hair, self-appointed mayor, absent-minded and bungling. Emma is the self-appointed leader of the Smoggies, short-tempered, obsessed with finding the magic coral, and a bully. Clarence is Emma's husband and captain of the Stinky-Poo, an inventor whose inventions rarely work, and is spineless toward Emma. Polluto is Clarence's only crewmate, dimwitted but practical, eating coal and drinking oil; he has a warm heart and sometimes befriends the Suntots.
