Fresh Beat Band of Spies is an animated children's television series that aired on Nickelodeon and the Nick Jr. Channel. A spin-off of the live-action series The Fresh Beat Band, it was created by Nadine van der Velde and Scott Kraft and developed by Michael Ryan. The series features the original cast members reprising their roles, with Tom Kenny joining as Reed.

Kiki, voiced by Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer, is the band's guitarist and lead singer who owns a hair salon and uses a jetpack and scooter. Shout, voiced by Thomas Hobson, is the athletic keyboardist and lifeguard who says "Time to spy it up!" when missions begin. Marina, voiced by Tara Perry, is the drummer and chemist for a bakery who exclaims "Brainstorm!" when she has an idea. Twist, voiced by Jon Beavers, is the comedic disc jockey who manages a pet daycare center and rides a pogo stick. Bo Monkey, voiced by Tom Kenny, is Twist's best friend and communicates through monkey noises. Recurring villains include Champ Von Champ Von Winnerchamp, a muscular thief with a German accent; Captain Arrrgh, a singing pirate with a chicken named Poulet; Yi-Haw, a cowgirl outlaw voiced by Kate Higgins; Squee Z. Dumpkins, an internet celebrity voiced by Tara Strong; and Spooky Spooks, a ghost girl voiced by Eden Riegel who dreams of being a rock star.

Broadcast

The series previewed on the Nick Jr. Channel on June 15, 2015, and premiered on Nickelodeon on June 29. Only the first four of eleven scheduled episodes aired on the main network. Internationally, it debuted on Nick Jr. Canada on September 7, 2015, and later aired on Treehouse TV, as well as Nick Jr. channels in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, the Middle East and North Africa, Australia, and the UK.

Reception

The series received generally positive reviews. Common Sense Media's Emily Ashby gave it four out of five stars, praising its use of quirky villains. USA Today listed it among the twenty-five best family programs of 2015. The episode "Singing Pirate" was nominated for Outstanding Achievement, Production Design in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production at the 43rd Annie Awards, and the series won a 2016 Parents' Choice Award.
