Night of the Living Cat is a manga series created by writer Hawkman and artist Mecha-Roots. It first appeared in Mag Garden's Monthly Comic Garden on October 5, 2020. The chapters are compiled into volumes, with the first volume released on May 10, 2021, and eight volumes available as of August 7, 2026. Seven Seas Entertainment holds the English-language license for North America. An anime adaptation was announced on February 22, 2024, which is National Cat Day. The anime was produced by OLM, with planning and production handled by Slow Curve and Sony Pictures Television. Tomohiro Kamitani directed the series, while Takashi Miike served as chief director. Shingo Irie wrote the series scripts, Takao Maki designed the characters, and Kōji Endō composed the music. Shigeru Chiba provided narration. It aired on TV Tokyo and BS TV Tokyo from July 8 to September 23, 2025. The opening theme is "Cat City" by The Yellow Monkey, the ending theme is "Matatabi" by Wanima, and an insert song called "Nyaight of the Living Cat" was performed by Endō with Marty Friedman and Heidi Shepherd. Crunchyroll streams the series in the Americas, the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Oceania, and the CIS, while SPT manages distribution in Asia-Pacific.
