Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure, originally titled *Tangled: The Series* during its first season, is an American animated television series created by Chris Sonnenburg and Shane Prigmore for Disney Television Animation. It debuted on Disney Channel with the television movie *Tangled: Before Ever After* on March 10, 2017, followed by regular episodes starting March 24, 2017. The show continues the story of the 2010 film *Tangled*, with Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi reprising their roles. The voice cast also includes Eden Espinosa, Clancy Brown, Julie Bowen, James Monroe Iglehart, Jeff Ross, Paul F. Tompkins, and Jeremy Jordan. The series was renewed for a second season before its premiere in February 2017; that season aired from June 24, 2018. A third and final season was announced in May 2018, premiering on October 7, 2019, and concluding on March 1, 2020.
Six months after escaping Mother Gothel and reuniting with her parents, King Frederic and Queen Arianna, Rapunzel struggles with her father's overprotectiveness. When she and her handmaiden Cassandra sneak out of the castle, they encounter black rock spikes that magically restore her long blonde hair. Together with Eugene Fitzherbert, Pascal the chameleon, Maximus the horse, and young alchemist Varian, Rapunzel investigates why her hair returned and how it connects to the black rocks spreading around Corona. She eventually learns that the Sundrop Flower's power resides within her, and the rocks guide her toward the Dark Kingdom. In the second season, Rapunzel's group travels to the Dark Kingdom with Lance, Hook Foot, and Shorty, joined by the mysterious warrior Adira. They discover the rocks are created by the Moonstone Opal, the Sundrop's counterpart. During the journey, Rapunzel explores the world and learns the Sundrop and Moonstone are two halves of an ancient power meant to be reunited. At the season's end, Cassandra betrays Rapunzel and absorbs the Moonstone's power. The third season sees Rapunzel return to Corona to act as queen after learning her parents were overthrown, while confronting Cassandra and the ancient demon Zhan Tiri, who plots to use the Sundrop and Moonstone to destroy Corona.
