History
Championship Wrestling from Hollywood began as NWA Hollywood, produced with Big Vision Entertainment and recorded at Columbia Square Studios in Hollywood. After its debut on KDOC-TV, the promotion moved its home base to the Galaxy Theater in Santa Ana. The first non-televised event took place on May 12, 2012, with Scorpio Sky facing Nick Madrid in the main event. Adam Pearce originally handled booking duties, but Joey Ryan took over in January 2011; Ryan was let go on August 4, 2011.
On September 9, 2012, David Marquez revealed the promotion had split from the NWA. A move to the Oceanview Pavilion in Port Hueneme, California occurred on August 13, 2013, with tapings scheduled for the second and fourth Sundays of each month. That same day, Matt Striker joined the commentary team and The Grappler debuted as a manager. On October 22, 2013, CWFH teamed up with nine other promotions to form the United Wrestling Network.
In 2017, a short-lived partnership with the NWA resumed under Billy Corgan’s ownership, featuring Nick Aldis and Tim Storm battling for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Aron Haddad became the booker in September 2020, and on October 3, 2020, Marquez stepped down as executive producer, naming Nick Bonnano as his replacement. The Omicron variant of COVID-19 forced a hiatus after the September 11, 2021 episode. On February 17, 2022, the United Wrestling Network announced a merger of CWFH with Championship Wrestling from Arizona and Championship Wrestling from Atlanta into a single brand called Championship Wrestling presented by CarShield.
The first taping for this new show took place at the Irvine Improv in Irvine, California on March 22, 2022, with the series premiering the weekend of April 24, 2022.
