History

Major League Wrestling and beIN Sports announced a partnership on March 30, 2018, to air a weekly series. The show, MLW Fusion, taped at Gilt Nightclub in Orlando, Florida, and debuted on Friday nights on April 20, 2018. On September 19, MLW added a streaming deal with FITE TV and a Spanish-language broadcast on beIN Sports. The first live episode aired on December 14 during MLW’s Zero Hour event, announced on November 29, with more live specials following.

In January 2019, Fusion gained its first international outlet, EGO TV in Israel, and shifted from Friday to Saturday nights in February. After the May 9, 2020 episode ended the MLW vs AAA Super Series, the show paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A spinoff, Pulp Fusion, began weekly uploads on MLW’s YouTube channel on May 29, 2020. On September 10, MLW moved Fusion to Wednesday nights on fubo Sports Network, and on October 10 announced a return on November 18 at 7pm EST, with new episodes also premiering on YouTube that same night.

This shift ended the original year-round weekly schedule, and a season finale aired on May 5, 2021. During the Battle Riot III premiere on July 24, 2021, MLW announced a new Fusion season for fall and a four-part mini-series, MLW Fusion: Alpha, to precede it. Originally set for August, Fusion: Alpha was re-announced on September 6, 2021 as a new season premiering September 22 on MLW’s YouTube channel, also airing Saturdays and Mondays on beIN Sports, and on FITE TV from October 19.

On December 7, MLW said the Fusion: Alpha finale would air December 15, though it aired December 16. MLW also announced an anthology mini-series, MLW Azteca, taped during the MLW Azteca/The Crash event in December 2021. It premiered on Thursday, January 6, 2022 on MLW’s YouTube channel and FITE TV, running for five episodes.

Production

MLW Fusion started filming at the Gilt Nightclub in Orlando, Florida. In May 2018, the promotion announced that its July 19 tapings would move to the Melrose Ballroom in New York City, the first time it recorded shows outside of Florida. Since then, tapings have taken place in different locations across the country. During the COVID-19 pandemic, from fall 2020 into 2021, MLW returned to the Gilt Nightclub for closed-set recordings. From July through December 2021, the promotion taped its programming at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
