The Adventures of Raggedy Ann and Andy
Dolls come alive to save a parallel world.
CBS created the animated series The Adventures of Raggedy Ann and Andy to celebrate the characters' 70th anniversary. Based on Johnny Gruelle's dolls, it ran on the network from September 17 to December 24, 1988. The show was cancelled in 1989, but CBS aired reruns during the 1989–90 season and again in August 1991, filling the time slot left empty by Pee-Wee's Playhouse.

Overview
The story follows a girl named Marcella, whose Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls spring to life whenever her bedroom is empty of people. They are then transported to a parallel world to rescue its residents from Cracklin, a sorcerer who is evil but not very competent. Ann and Andy are joined by the Camel with the Wrinkled Knees, along with other stuffed animals from Marcella’s room: Grouchy Bear, a panda with a fake British accent; Sunny Bunny, a rabbit; and the Raggedy Cat and Raggedy Dog. Occasionally, newer toys like robots or toy soldiers also help. The plots often involve the toys assisting children in historical settings such as Ancient Egypt or a Native American tribe. Because the cartoon targeted very young viewers, it differed from most 1980s cartoons by not ending with a clear moral lesson. However, one episode did lightly address poaching: Ann, Andy, and their friends had to protect endangered unicorns from cattle rustlers who wanted to steal their horns for profit.
