Production
Alice's Wonderland Bakery is based on Disney's 1951 animated feature Alice in Wonderland, which is based on Lewis Carroll's book series. Disney Television Animation decided to produce a heritage project inspired by the tea party scene from the film, taking inspiration from the sense of connection brought by food. Creator Chelsea Beyl said she thought preschoolers would love the whimsy and comedy of the original movie combined with baking. Co-executive producer and art director Frank Montagna said the shift from a 1950s film to a preschool series was simple, as they removed frightening elements and kept entertaining ones. Montagna came up with the idea of fusing Alice in Wonderland with a bakery when Beyl first presented the show. The series highlights food as a form of creativity and self-expression, with Alice using food as her superpower to connect with characters. On June 6, 2023, it was announced that Kathryn Beaumont would guest appear in the special 'Alice's First Day in Wonderland'. The series finale was announced on April 1, 2024.

GeekMom favorably compared it to True and the Rainbow Kingdom, noting the series celebrates diversity through food to highlight culture and community. Laurel Graeber of The New York Times highlighted the show's creativity and cultural diversity of characters and voice actors. Ashley Moulton of Common Sense Media gave the show three out of five stars, calling it a fun treat but not a standout, praising characters, worldbuilding, and musical numbers while expressing concern over the numerous desserts. Marisa Lascala of Good Housekeeping included the series in their '60 Best Kids' TV Shows and Family Series of All Time' list. Eden Espinosa received nominations for Best Voice-Over Actor (Television) at the 2022 Imagen Awards and Outstanding Voice Performance in a Preschool Animated Program at the 1st Children's and Family Emmy Awards.
