Issadora, nicknamed Izzi, is the main protagonist of the series. She is a 7-year-old car modeled after a 1957 BMW Isetta 300, characterized as innocent, bright-eyed, and curious, though she sometimes becomes frustrated at being the smallest. Johnny, a 2003 Dodge Viper, is cool and daring, enjoying high speeds and a glossy shine; his favorite activity is racing to Squeakies Car Wash. Cali, a 1999 Mercedes-Benz R170, is a valley girl who enjoys shopping with Johnny and Maria. EJ, a 1974 Morris Mini, is one of the little cars who puts full effort into everything and aspires to be like Johnny when he grows up; his best friend is his classmate Izzi. The Professor, a 1950 Citroën 2CV, is an eccentric and analytical inventor whose inventions often go awry, but he is beloved for his kind heart. Franklin, a 1931 Tatra T80, is old and wise, offering advice from experience and serving as a mentor alongside the Professor. Miles, a 1970 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia, acts as the group's conscience, steering others toward right choices and balancing the friendship with Johnny and Cali. Maria, a 2003 Jeep Liberty, loves adventure and four-wheeling, coaches the little cars' soccer team, and works at the park. Derek, a 2000 Dodge Ram 3500 Regular Cab, is the largest and strongest of the group, known for his mild manner and role as peacemaker. Elrod, a 1923 Austin 7, is a century-old veteran who fought in the great war with CJ Willy, Franklin, and Mr. Morgan; he lived alone for many years afterward and later reconciled with his friends, now operating Elrod's Mini Golf. CJ Willy, a 1942 Willys MB, served as drill instructor and sergeant during the great war and lost his life in the line of duty; his image is cast in bronze as a statue in Memorial Park. Lug Nut is modeled after a 1934 Triumph Dolomite.
