History
Stolen Babies originated from a 12+ member high school performance troupe called The Fratellis; the band name comes from a skit written by Dominique Persi and her older brother, animator Raymond S. Persi. They released their first demo CD through their own label, No Comment Records. Their debut full-length album, There Be Squabbles Ahead, was released early in 2006 through the band's website and re-released on October 3 through The End Records. The album was produced by Dan Rathbun of Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, who also contributed tuba and background vocals; Carla Kihlstedt played violin on two tracks. The re-release included a music video for "Push Button" directed by Erik Tillmans. This album marked the departure of guitarist Davin Givhan, replaced by George Earth (formerly of Switchblade Symphony) for the subsequent international tour. The band supported Lacuna Coil on The Hottest Chicks in Metal Tour 2007 alongside Within Temptation and The Gathering. Their second album, Naught, was released October 16, 2012. From September 4 to 24, they participated in the Epic Kings & Idols tour supporting Devin Townsend, Katatonia, and Paradise Lost. They also joined the "With a Vengeance" tour supporting Otep alongside New Years Day and Lydia Can't Breathe from September 20 to November 9, 2013. On July 3, 2020, Stolen Babies released the single "Stolen Babies" on Bandcamp, their first new song in eight years. On October 30, 2021, they released a cover of the theme from the stop-motion film Mad Monster Party? on Bandcamp.
Side projects
Dominique Lenore Persi has played with indie pop-folk polka artist Horace Weintraub and contributed accordion to many of his recordings. Gil Sharone served as a replacement drummer for +44 on tours of Europe, Australia, and Japan in early 2007. Persi and Rani Sharone are participants in the Immersion Composition Society and members of the Los Angeles sect Lodge of 1,000 Names. Gil and Rani Sharone have played with Puscifer, the side project of Tool's frontman Maynard James Keenan; Rani remixed "The Green Valley" for Puscifer's "All Re-Mixed Up" remix album, featuring Rani, Gil on drums, and Dominique on accordion. Gil Sharone handled drum duties on The Dillinger Escape Plan's album Ire Works and was their permanent drummer from 2007 to 2008. He was drummer for Marilyn Manson from 2014 to 2019 and again from 2024 to present, playing on The Pale Emperor and Heaven Upside Down. Persi appeared on Devin Townsend's album Z², the Radioactive Chicken Heads album Tales from the Coop, the soundtrack to the 2019 Richard Elfman movie Aliens, Clowns, & Geeks, and Circle of Sighs' 2021 single "His Box." Rani Sharone had a solo project called Thrillsville; his 2020 EP Say Goodbye to the Light features Persi on covers of Stolen Babies songs. His current solo project is And It Was Night, with Persi on backing vocals on every single released so far.
