Plot

After the Wicked Witch of the West was melted by water, Queen Ozma crowned Dorothy Gale as the new princess of Emerald City. Dorothy tackles her royal duties with enthusiasm, bravery, kindness and farm girl feistiness. She tracks down problems involving magic, Munchkins, winged monkeys or her nemesis Wilhelmina, the wicked witch-in-training and niece of the Wicked Witch of the West, with help from her dog Toto and friends Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion. At the start of the second season, the Wizard of Oz returns to Oz after another tornado and plots to gain real magic powers. He helps resurrect the Wicked Witch in exchange for powers, but Dorothy accidentally resurrects her without powers, endangering Oz.

Characters

Dorothy Gale, voiced by Kari Wahlgren, is the farm girl from Kansas living in Oz as princess of Emerald City. She is brave, kind, and rarely angry, though she has become angry twice: once when Wilhelmina controlled her emotions with a mood ring and once before the Nome King turned her into a white cat. In Season 3, she gains abilities to create objects such as red pillows, force fields, a catcher's mitt, and a giant bowling ball. Her best friends are Toto, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion.

Toto is Dorothy's pet dog, revealed in "Dorothy's Christmas in Oz" to have been a Christmas present from Santa. Queen Ozma, voiced by Kari Wahlgren, is the queen of Emerald City and Dorothy's best friend, rescued by Dorothy from the Nome King. Tin Man, voiced by J. P. Karliak, is a tin humanoid who provides useful items from inside him. Cowardly Lion, voiced by Jess Harnell, is the not-so-fearless king of the forest and the group's muscle.

Scarecrow, voiced by Bill Fagerbakke, is wise and intelligent, offering useful information on adventures. The Wizard of Oz, voiced by Tom Kenny, is an ordinary man and former ruler of Oz who returns in season two to become a real wizard; he later gains the Wicked Witch's powers. Good Witch Glinda, voiced by Grey DeLisle, is the Good Witch of the North and a motherly figure to Dorothy; in season three it is revealed she originally owned the Ruby Slippers before the Wicked Witch of the East stole them.
