Gerrie Mühren
The elder brother who anchored Ajax's European dominance with three consecutive Cup wins.
Gerardus "Gerrie" Mühren (1946–2013) was a Dutch midfielder and the older brother of international teammate Arnold Mühren. Born in Volendam, he began at RKAV Volendam before joining Ajax, where he played from 1968 to 1976. A key figure during the club's most dominant years, he secured three European Cup winners' medals. His career included scoring in back-to-back KNVB Cup final victories for Ajax in 1971 and 1972. Beyond the Netherlands, Mühren played for Real Betis in Spain, where the team won the 1977 Copa del Rey, though he was denied a medal as foreigners were barred from cup finals at the time. He later played for Seiko in Hong Kong and returned to Volendam for a final season before retiring.

His tenure coincided with the club's golden era, marked by an unprecedented run of success. A defining moment for Mühren was scoring Ajax's historic 1000th Eredivisie goal against Telstar. He also netted the winning goal in the second leg of the 1972–73 European Cup semi-final against Real Madrid, a crucial step toward their third consecutive title.
