Continental War

The war was fought between the Federal Republic of Erusea and the Independent State Allied Forces (ISAF), a military alliance of other Usean countries.^[1] The war began in summer 2003 when Erusea captured San Salvacion and the Stonehenge railgun network, which had been built to destroy the Ulysses asteroid.^[1][2] Erusea repurposed Stonehenge as an anti-aircraft weapon, pushing ISAF back to the east coast until September 2004, when pilot Mobius 1 began flying small air strikes.^[1] After the surrender, rebellious Erusean officers attempted to use the Megalith superweapon for retribution, but Mobius 1 led the new Mobius Squadron to destroy it.^[1]

The story campaign of Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies covers the events of the war's latter half.^[1] During January 2005, ISAF executed a landing operation on Usea's southern coast and started reclaiming land.^[1] The Ulysses Impact Event together with the Continental War led to nearly 20 million total casualties and severely damaged Usea's infrastructure.^[1] The war's result was an ISAF victory, Erusean surrender and governmental reformation, and the beginning of the Free Erusea insurgency.^[4]
