Synopsis

Rubius is among 100 selected playtesters for the ORV, an experimental virtual reality device that connects to his neuronal network and transports him to the Game Worlds. The experience is part of a plan by Trollmask, the Master of the Game Worlds, who holds the players hostage to force them to witness his victory over Rubius. With allies Sakura, Zombirella, Slimmer and G4T0, Rubius takes on challenges to free the players.

Reception

Virtual Hero received mixed reviews from television critics. Alberto Cano of eCartelera praised the series for building a varied, attractive universe with its own personality, calling it fresh and fun animated fiction for young audiences despite borrowing elements seen in works like Ready Player One. Espinof, however, dismissed the show as a poor imitation of the shōnen genre and an animated fanzine lacking pretension or quality.
