I Got a Rocket! is an animated television series about a boy named Vincent "Vinnie" who receives an anthropomorphic rocket for his birthday. The rocket acts as his best friend and is eager to help him. The series, based on a book by Matt Zurbo, aired from 1 December 2006 to 24 May 2007 and won a 2008 Emmy Award for "New Approaches - Daytime Children's Entertainment".
Characters
Rocket, an orange-and-blue rocket with a hyperactive and eccentric personality, was created as a birthday gift for Vinnie. Voiced by Thomas Bromhead, Rocket is always eager to lend a hand and depends heavily on assistance, though his confidence sometimes gets the better of him, like in the episode "Mackerel Mates". His go-to line is "You Got it, V-Man!" whenever Vinnie finds himself in a jam. Vinnie, whose full name is Vincent Q, is a 13-year-old boy who gets Rocket for his birthday.
Voiced by Jamie Oxenbould in Australia and Thomas Bromhead in the U.S., Vinnie becomes a hip and popular kid after Rocket's arrival, but he still gets wedgies from a trio of siblings called The Duckies, and he turns shy around his crush, Maya Kovsky. Vinnie's father, Professor Quigley Q, voiced by Marcello Fabrizi, is a genius who often slips scientific terms into everyday talk, like saying "degrees" when telling Vinnie, "I'm proud of you, son!" Crystal Q, voiced by Rachel King, is Vinnie's sister.
Ma Ducky, voiced by Drew Forsythe, is the ambitious mother of the bullying Duckys triplets; she works as both lunch lady and librarian at Vinnie's school, hates Vinnie and Rocket, and turns a blind eye to her kids' misbehavior. Biffo Ducky, also voiced by Drew Forsythe, is the biggest and most muscular of the three. Scuds Ducky, voiced by Drew Forsythe, is the dimmest of the group. Frankie Ducky, voiced by Rachel King, is the leader and the only girl among the Duckys.
VP Stern, voiced by Marcello Fabrizi, is a teacher and vice principal at Inner City School, where Vinnie, Gabby, and Rainbow attend. Gabby, voiced by Trilby Glover, is a friend of Vinnie.
Rainbow, voiced by Rachel King, is another friend. Maya Kovsky, voiced by Trilby Glover, is Vinnie's love interest and a waiter at Joe's Milk Bar, his favorite restaurant. Captain O'Cheese, also called Pirate and voiced by Drew Forsythe, drives a pirate ship through the streets.
