The Reach are an ancient race of cosmic marauders in DC Comics; the Blue Beetle scarab, once shown as a magic artifact, was retconned as their tool of war. Defeated by the Guardians of the Universe and forced into a truce, they pose as benevolent aliens lending technology to young civilizations.

Background
In Young Justice, the Reach are an imperial alien race who created Blue Beetle's scarab. Their warrior Black Beetle wields a similar scarab, destroyed by Blue Beetle in the final battle; Green Beetle, a Green Martian bonded to a scarab, serves them until Zatanna frees him. Their experiments give Static his electromagnetic powers and El Dorado his teleportation. Mongul, ruler of Warworld, is their ally. Wally West is killed stopping their Magnetic Field Disruptor, and Lex Luthor becomes UN Secretary-General after helping stop their plot.
