The Operator's temporally paradoxical adult self from another timeline.
The Drifter is a temporally paradoxical adult version of the Tenno, the Operator's alternate-timeline self, who first appeared in The New War. In that quest, after the Sentients break the alliance of former enemies and the Narmer empire rises, Ordis and the Drifter must find the Operator and end Ballas for good.
Lore & Background
The Duviri Paradox expansion of April 26, 2023 details the Drifter's origins and adds the landscape Duviri, where the player is mostly restricted to the Drifter, who can summon a horse-like Kaithe and must slay an ancient mechanical beast called an Orowyrm. In the expansion set in an alternate-history 1999 the player controls the Drifter alongside The Hex, a group of Protoframes led by Arthur Nightingale, hunting Albrecht Entrati in Hollvania and fighting the Man in the Wall.
