Count Georick Zaberisk, once the brilliant Royal Physician to the King of Hardland, retired to the countryside to care for his frail sister Lillith. When the King offered him a new position in the capital, Georick accepted. During his absence, villagers suspected Lillith of witchcraft; an angry mob stormed the Zaberisk manor, burning and beheading her. Devastated, Georick discovered Lillith's severed head still lived. After moving to the city, he turned to alchemy—forbidden in Hardland—to restore her body, treading a dark path that may reveal horrific truths about the kingdom, his colleagues, and himself.
