Akaneiro ni Somaru Saka

Akaneiro ni Somaru Saka (あかね色に染まる坂, meaning "The Hill Dyed Rose Madder"), often shortened to Akasaka, is a Japanese adult visual novel from the developer Feng. It first came out for Windows on DVD on July 27, 2007. A toned-down version without adult content, titled Akaneiro ni Somaru Saka: Parallel, was released for the PlayStation 2 by GN Software on July 31, 2008. That version was later ported to the PlayStation Portable as Akaneiro ni Somaru Saka: Portable on December 17, 2009. The game’s story offers preset scenarios where the player makes choices, and it focuses on six main female characters. Two light novels came out in December 2007 and February 2008, each written by a different author. An Internet radio show started in April 2008. A manga adaptation, illustrated by Homare Sakazuki, began serializing in Kadokawa Shoten’s seinen magazine Comp Ace on June 26, 2008. An anime adaptation by TNK, directed by Keitaro Motonaga, aired in Japan from October to December 2008.

The gameplay requires little input from the player. Most of the time is spent reading text on screen, which shows either conversations between characters or the protagonist’s thoughts. Occasionally, the player reaches a point where they must choose from several options. How often these choices appear varies—sometimes after a minute, sometimes much longer. The game pauses at these points, and the player’s decision sends the plot in a specific direction. In the original version, there are six main storylines, one for each heroine. The PlayStation 2 version adds a seventh. To see all storylines, the player must replay the game multiple times and make different choices. In the PC version, one goal is to unlock sex scenes between the protagonist, Jun'ichi, and one of the six heroines.

The plot follows Jun'ichi Nagase, a student at a prestigious high school. He earned the nickname "Geno Killer" for being rebellious in middle school. This reputation accidentally helps him rescue a girl named Yuuhi Katagiri from trouble. She later transfers to his school. Due to a misunderstanding, Jun'ichi kisses her. Angry that he stole her first kiss and embarrassed her, she yells at him. It then turns out that Yuuhi is his fiancée, arranged by their parents. Their parents discuss the matter and order them to date for a month to fix their relationship. If things don’t improve, the engagement will be called off
