Lore & Background
In the second round of the 1976-77 European Cup Trabzonspor beat the English champions Liverpool 1-0 in the first leg, though it went out after the return. Its first Champions League group-stage appearance came after Fenerbahçe's European ban over the 2011 match-fixing allegations; a later return to the competition ended in the play-off round against Copenhagen.
