Ravage

Part of the original Decepticon treatment lineup inspired by Generation 1 lore.

Alongside Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, and others like Rumble and Skywarp, he was part of the initial roster selected by producers Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto. Their influence came directly from the Generation 1 cartoon and comics, with the Creation Matrix serving as a key plot device before it was renamed due to concerns over the film series The Matrix.

Lore & Background

In the development phase for Transformers (2007), producers Murphy and DeSanto crafted a treatment featuring Ravage as one of the primary antagonists. He was grouped with other Decepticons such as Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, Laserbeak, Rumble, Skywarp, and Shockwave to oppose a team of Autobots including Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. The creative team cited Generation 1 cartoons and comics as their main influence for this lineup. Although the script evolved significantly under Michael Bay's direction—who felt early drafts were too kiddie and sought a more realistic disaster-film tone—Ravage remained listed among the characters in that initial treatment phase before the final cast was narrowed down by popularity.
