The rain had not stopped for three days. He remembered, too, the silence of the city that afternoon when the news came, the way the phone in the club office rang and rang and no one could pick it up. He knelt, pressed his palms flat against the wet turf, and said nothing. The boy waited. The rain filled the silence between them, and the old goalkeeper finally whispered, 'We were invincible. That was the problem.'
